Don't know what RPG stands for. That's okay, we do.
Have a question? Write us and we'll put it up with the answer as well as
email you in return. However, once enough of the same questions
get asked, we will put up a Frequently Asked page. At that point,
we will only ask that you read it.
However, here is one question that gets answered right
off the bat! What is RPG? Well, it stands for - Role Playing
Game. That's what this entire Holt is all about. Playing!
Having Fun! Enjoying ourselves!
Now, you are probably wondering, 'How does it work,
here?'. Simple. The Person in charge of the Adventure, also
called the Game Master, comes up with an Adventure relevant to the Game
Rules and Theme chosen ahead of time. In this case, we are using
the Official Elfquest RPG Rules put out by Chaosim Inc.
You, the Player, have adopted an elf from the Everwood
Holt Tribe in order to participate in the game. In other words-You have
an elf that you get to play! The Game Master comes up with an
adventure that you play your elf through.
But 'How do you play?' you ask. Another good question.
If you are already familiar with the rules mentioned above, you can keep
up with your own elf's skills sheet or you can leave it to the Game
Master (GM) to keep up with. Doesn't matter either way.
Anyway, you get an email from the Game Master giving you
the run down on the beginning of the adventure and you send a reply back
letting him know what you want you elf to attempt to do. The GM
runs through any die rolls needed and lets you know what was successful
...or not. This repeats till the adventure is completed! Very
simple!
Bonuses? Okay, I admit, your elf wont increase in
levels like the D&D game Characters. But, that doesn't mean that
your elf doesn't improve! Your adopted elf has skills in either
Magic or in other areas. Whenever these skills are challenged,
your elf can then receive an increase in them.
